About my paintings...

I love using bold colors and outlining them with thick black lines to highlight their brightness. To me bright colors evoke the vibrant light of Havana, where I grew up. The black lines evoke the ironwork in the windows and balconies of the colonial buildings in Old Havana.

I paint to return to my childhood, to the endless hours I used to spend watching my dad painting and mixing colors. As a child I was fascinated by the magic of his paintbrush. As an adult I am fascinated by the peace and joy painting brings me. Each finished piece is an homage to my father and to the majestic beauty of the city of my childhood.

I have  conceived  most of my designs with  a mural in mind ... hoping to fill up an empty wall.
